As the costs for goods and services steadily increases from year to year, seniors are constricted more and more each year by a disproportionate Cost of Living Adjustment, or CoLA.
The Seniors Coalition has been a leader in the fight to protect and reform the CoLA promised to all seniors during their retirement. Now, we need your help!
Each year, the CoLA is based on the average market basket for a family of four. This is ridiculous, seeing as how today’s seniors absorb more costs in one of the most expensive industries around – the healthcare industry. The costs of prescription drugs, healthcare visits, insurance, along with all the other normal costs of living comes nowhere close – either in description or cost – to the “average market basket for a family of four.”
The CoLA must be reformed to represent the average market basket for an American senior!
With the devastation caused by hurricane Katrina and Rita, this adds another concern when it comes to the 2006 CoLA due to seniors. Will it be there when you need it?
