The government mandated Health Care Reform packages will fund huge new entitlement programs for uninsured Americans and illegal immigrants by raiding more than $500 billion from the Medicare Trust Fund.
WASHINGTON, D.C.//September 9, 2009//The Seniors Coalition (TSC) issued a “Seniors' Call to Arms” to fight the proposed Health Care Reform packages that will raid $500 billion from the Medicare Trust Fund to create new entitlement programs for uninsured Americans and health care for illegal immigrants.
Flora “Grandma” Green, National Spokesperson for TSC, called on Congress to immediately “stop the shameful theft of Medicare funds needed to meet the medical needs of America’s seniors.” Green went on to point out the “Medicare Trust Fund was built by payments by seniors during their working years, and taking the money out of the Trust Fund now to fund other new programs for political gain is reprehensible.”
In the “Seniors' Call to Arms” to protect health care, TSC encouraged seniors to contact their Senators and Congressman and demand the following action:
·Oppose any cuts to existing Medicare benefits, including the Medicare Advantage programs and any reduction in reimbursement for covered medical benefits.
·Stop the government from interfering with medical decisions made by a doctor for their patient. Congress should oppose any proposal by Medicare bureaucrats to limit needed treatments for Medicare beneficiaries.
·No government interference with “end-of-life” care decisions made by patients in consultation with their doctor and family members.
·No rationing of care by the government that deprives seniors of needed medical care, and no coverage or reimbursement cuts that limit decisions by doctors to provide needed care.
·Mandate reimbursement for yearly Medicare physicals and vision assessments to allow for early diagnosis of age-related diseases and early preventative treatments to limit more expensive hospitalization.
·Oppose any new entitlement for health care coverage for illegal immigrants.
·Support health care coverage for uninsured families if funds can be made available from existing revenues, and not from cuts to Medicare.
Grandma Green urged seniors to accept the “Seniors' Call to Arms to contact their Senator and Congressman because seniors really are under attack, and unless we stand up and speak loudly now, we will suffer from these outrageous unfair cuts to Medicare.”
